At SWAY, we believe in the transformative power of gratitude and community support. Founded by Chris and Courtney Johnson and sponsored by Y&E and GRO, SWAY is dedicated to uplifting and celebrating our local community servants—teachers, first responders, police, and other unsung heroes who work tirelessly to improve our lives.
Our mission is clear: to bridge the gap in appreciation and resources for those who lead and serve. In the wake of challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the loss of over 500 educators in just five years, we recognize the critical need to stand by our teachers and other essential workers. Through our efforts, we aim to provide tangible support, such as classroom furniture, supplies, and opportunities that enhance their ability to thrive.

Join us on May 3, 2025, at the Evansville Ford Center for the inaugural Teacher Appreciation Celebration, the first in a series of events dedicated to honoring the incredible individuals who serve our community. This special night will feature music, dancing, teacher recognition awards, photo booths, games, delicious food, and more—all in celebration of the educators who shape our future. To express our deepest gratitude, all teachers and a guest are invited to attend free of charge.
This is just the beginning. With your support, we can make this event a reality and lay the foundation for future celebrations of other community heroes, including first responders, healthcare professionals, and beyond. The event is exclusive to teachers only, and even though we wish we could invite ALL teachers, this is limited to Vanderburgh and Warrick county teachers on a first-come-first-serve basis!
